Are you an experienced Mechanical Technician with experience in heavy mechanics and logistics, operation and maintenance of complex assemblies? Are you interested in the development of innovative systems, involving novel concepts, materials and extremely challenging requirements? Take part!
You will join the CERN Experimental Physics Department (EP) to work in the CMS Experiment Systems Group (CMX) Safety, Coordination and Integration (SCI) section.
The CMS Experiment is one of the four large experiments of the LHC at CERN. The CMS detector weighs around 14000 tonnes and is divided into large movable segments, weighing up to 2000 tonnes, that facilitate maintenance and upgrade of the equipment. Within the EP-CMX-SCI section, you will be part of the CMS Technical Coordination team, including technicians, engineers and physicists who are in charge of all technical aspects related to the operation, maintenance, and upgrade of the CMS detector. This includes configuration changes and installation of new detectors.
Functions
As a Mechanical Technician you will:

• Participate actively in the assembly/disassembly of the detector, including opening and closing of the large CMS components using screw jacks, hydraulic jacks, strand-jack system and high-pressure air-pads, and pneumatic locking systems.

• Maintain the dedicated heavy lifting and hydraulic tools, improve them, design, install and commission new ones.

• Supervise and organise the various on-site activities of the collaboration technicians and/or external suppliers.

• Support the operation and maintenance of the mechanical workshop at the CMS site, acting as deputy to the workshop supervisor.

• Interpret 2D/3D designs, construct tooling and manufacture mechanical pieces accordingly.

Qualifications
Higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Hydraulics, Mechanics, Electro-Mechanics or a related field.
Trainings/certificates considered a plus: High pressure training and certificate, Welding certificate, Scaffolding certificate
Experience:
Demonstrated experience in the following areas is required:

• operating and maintaining heavy lifting hydraulic, mechanical and pneumatic systems;

• performing mechanical site work.

Initial experience in the following is required:

• running a mechanical workshop (use of tools and machines, maintenance of equipment, safety, validation of procedures, work scheduling);

• supervision of technical teams.

Technical competencies:

• Operation and maintenance of lifting and handling equipment;

• Definition and installation of transport systems;

• Assembly of mechanical structures and equipment;

• Manufacturing of mechanical parts;

• Operation and maintenance of electromechanical equipment and systems.

Behavioural competencies:

• Achieving results: having a structured and organised approach towards work; being able to set priorities and plan tasks with results in mind; delivering high quality work on time and fulfilling expectations.

Are you a Computing Engineer with a passion for challenging projects in the field of particle physics experiments? Do you have experience in designing, developing, and operating distributed computing systems in a large scientific programme or in an industrial environment? Then seize the opportunity and join the LHCb Team in CERN’s Experimental Physics Department. You will become a core software engineer for the design, development, maintenance, and operations of the experiment’s distributed workload and data management ecosystem. Handling millions of jobs, and billions of files, you will contribute to the world’s largest open science data infrastructure.
You will join:

• The Experimental Physics (EP) Department, which carries out basic research in the field of experimental particle physics in a stimulating scientific atmosphere, standing as an important reference for the European physics community; it also contributes to the education and training of young scientists.

• The LHCb Computing group (LBC), which has major responsibilities in the development, operation, maintenance, and future upgrades of LHCb Software & Computing systems.

Functions
You will:

• Take a leading role in the development, operation, maintenance, and future upgrades of the Dirac interware for the needs of the LHCb Experiment; this includes a wide variety of software engineering tasks to ensure readiness of the system for the needs of LHCb U2, and development of features specifically required for LHCb Distributed Computing.

• Contribute to all aspects of the central operation of the LHCb Experiment’s distributed computing system.

• Engage with the workflow management efforts of the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) and drive their evolution towards the needs of LHCb.

• Contribute to the evolution of the Dirac open-source community activity.

• Help with LHCb Core Software tasks like the modernisation of the LHCb software deployment model.

Qualifications
PhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of computing engineering or a related field.
Experience:

• Proven experience in the design, development and operation of large-scale distributed systems for scientific experiments;

• Demonstrated experience with the Python programming language and SQL-based databases, especially for systems with large request volumes and high interaction rates;

• Demonstrated experience with Web Development Frameworks;

• Experience in utilising and managing High Performance Computing (HPC) systems;

• Experience using modern development processes for distributed teams, such as iterative development, code review, and CI/CD;

• Experience of common WLCG frameworks and systems, such as HTCondorCE, ARC would be an advantage.

Technical competencies:

• Architecture and design of ICT systems: in particular in the context of data life cycle management;

• Installation, operation and maintenance (preventive and corrective) of computing systems;

• Knowledge of system configuration tools: in the context of large-scale distributed computing systems such as Kubernetes & GitOps-based system deployments;

• Development of application software;

• Knowledge of best practices for implementing ICT security standards and policies: such as OAuth or JWTs.

Why we are hiring

The Centre is seeking an Insights Specialist to join the Economic Growth and Transformation team, with a particular focus on supporting the Future of Growth flagship report and related editorial and data products. This is a high-priority workstream, and the Centre is looking for someone who can contribute immediately and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The successful candidate will join a small core team responsible for delivering widely read and influential insights, with strong visibility internally and externally.

Reporting lines and interactions

The Insights Specialist will report to the Head of the Economic Growth and Transformation team in the Centre for the New Economy and Society, and will work closely with other staff across the Centre and the organization to deliver outputs efficiently and to the highest of standards.

Key responsibilities


Contribute to the production of the next edition of the Future of Growth report,  with a particular focus on the data analysis underpinning the report’s findings.


Support a broader portfolio of editorial and data products in the economic domain, including white papers, surveys, scenario exercises, and action-oriented toolkits and playbooks.


Develop analyses, presentations, data visualizations and proposals that help convert insights into engagement and collaboration with governments, businesses, academia, civil society and the wider public.


Maintain a focus on ambitious engagement and impact outcomes; track and report progress using both quantitative and qualitative metrics.


Support the curation and coordination of insight project communities and contributors, expanding and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Requirements and preferred experience


Advanced university degree in economics, econometrics, social sciences or a related field, with a strong grounding in quantitative research methodologies.


At least three years of relevant experience in economic analysis, research or policy, ideally spanning more than one sector (business, government, international organizations, think tanks, etc).


Demonstrated experience working on large-scale insight or thought leadership projects, turning complex economic data into strategic insights, visualizations and narratives for senior, non-technical audiences.


Fluency with statistical tools (R, Python, etc); advanced Excel; experience with survey design and benchmarking frameworks is a plus.


Strong project coordination and stakeholder engagement skills; attention to detail; the ability to synthesize diverse viewpoints into clear outputs.


Knowledge of the global economic agenda and experience with public-private collaboration in this space.


Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills; able to write clearly and concisely under tight deadlines.


Fluency in English; other languages are an asset.

Introduction
As an Experienced Welding Engineer in CERN’s Engineering Department, you will have the opportunity to get involved in the whole lifecycle of mechanical fabrication of complex components for CERN’s particle accelerators. You will play a key role in developing and supervising advanced assembly and welding procedures for the fabrication of technically demanding components such as pressure vessels, cryogenic systems, ultra-high vacuum chambers, and radiofrequency structures. Functions
As an Experienced Welding Engineer in the Forming & Welding Section, you will:

• Manage a team of highly skilled technicians and engineers in metal forming and welding.

• Develop and supervise advanced assembly and welding procedures for the fabrication of technically complex components, including pressure vessels, cryogenic systems, ultra-high vacuum chambers, and radiofrequency structures used in CERN’s accelerators and experiments.

• Be responsible for delivering welding development projects on time and within budget.

• Work closely with the QA/QC project team during manufacturing and production testing phases.

• Stay up to date with key international standards, codes and CERN’s guidance and procedures and ensure all proposed solutions are in fully compliant.

• Ensure the continued development of the welding engineering team capability and competencies.

• Build and maintain industry connections, staying informed about the latest developments.

Qualifications

Master’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of material science, mechanical engineering or a related field.
IWE or equivalent would be an asset.
Experience:

• Extensive experience in welding technologies such as: arc welding, beam welding, and vacuum brazing, particularly for the fabrication of components used in cryogenic applications, ultra-high vacuum systems, and pressure equipment.

• Proven expertise in welding stainless steel and nonferrous metals, including aluminium alloys and copper.

• Strong track record in managing complex projects, including development of manufacturing processes, technical supervision of fabrication, activity coordination, schedule planning, and budget control.

• Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising highly skilled technicians in forming and welding technologies.

• Proven expertise in setting up and monitoring quality assurance systems, aligned with technical and regulatory requirements.

• Hands-on experience performing tracer gas leak detection techniques.

• Thorough knowledge of welding standards and construction codes, including but not limited to the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and the Standard EN 13458-2 specifying requirements for the design, fabrication, inspection, and testing of cryogenic vacuum insulated vessels.

Technical competencies:

• Knowledge and application of joining techniques:
• in depth knowledge of welding joining technologies;

• good knowledge of NDT techniques such as radiographic and ultrasonic testing.

• Knowledge of metals and alloys:
• composition, structure, properties, heat treatments: in-depth knowledge of material sciences, materials selection and characterisation;

• Knowledge and application of materials, surface and thermal treatments for UHV:
• good understanding of the material behaviour under UHV and demonstrated experience for the fabrication of components for UHV applications;

• Manufacturing of mechanical parts:
• hands-on ability and knowledge in high-precision mechanical engineering, demonstrated experience in the conception of tooling;

• Production of 2D drawings and 3D models:
• ability to read/interpret technical drawings and ISO tolerancing (dimensional and geometrical product specification standards), ability to design tooling and draft technical drawings.

Job Description
Your responsibilities
The BE-CEM-MTA team has developed a software framework, called RADE , using LabVIEW that facilitates the development of measurement and analysis applications. These tools can increase the efficiency of target production and development and help the operators and users to tune ion source and the machine.
You will join the RILIS support and help improve the framework. The task consists of a set of developments, that should integrate into the existing control infrastructure, using MTA tools. This is a great opportunity to learn from close collaboration with Physicists and Laser Experts, understanding the basics of the accelerator control.
Specifically, you will:

• Use LabVIEW on Windows and/or Linux depending on the environment.

• Develop a monitoring and control systems using LabVIEW Real-Time and FPGA.

• Be involved in development, installation, and maintenance of applications in facilities such as RILIS and photoemission lab.

• Work in the RADE development team and learn the BE-CEM-MTA working standards.

• Study how CERN beam lines are working.

• Implement dedicated tools according to internal client requirements and CEM guidelines.

• Develop automated test of the tools using Jenkins.

• Document the work on our section’s Wiki pages.

• Support the deployed applications and participate in their maintenance.

Your profile
Skills:

The Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) aims to achieve results for children by maximizing UNICEF’s private fundraising and advocacy around the world. To carry out this mission, PFP coordinates fundraising activities and private sector partnerships with offices in over 50 countries.

The global team operates to support and enable countries in their fundraising, and this role works within that approach to support and develop the capabilities of teams, as well as supporting or leading the development of relevant global strategies. Individual Giving is one of UNICEF’s most critical sources of revenue and the PFP Individual Giving team, which this role would be part of, focuses on supporting countries to grow their individual giving revenue.
The PFP Individual Giving team based in Geneva is a lead participant in the Supporter Engagement Strategy, which aims to increase the global acquisition and engagement of UNICEF’s diverse supporter base, including donors, advocates, and volunteers. A key part of the strategy is to replace the incumbent CRM systems currently in place in 21 country offices with Salesforce-based technology, including in the EAP, ECA and LAC region.
How can you make a difference?

The Supporter Engagement Strategy (SES) Fundraising Specialist (CRM Success) will ensure that UNICEF offices that have gone live in the region with Salesforce / Marketing Cloud are able to maximize their fundraising performance by supporting them with all aspects of fundraising operations represented in the system.
At the point of hand over from the implementation team, the SES Fundraising Specialist will be responsible for the following: further refining business processes for maximum efficiency, prioritizing bugs or enhancement requests, data hygiene and standardization, maintaining discipline to required coding standards and reporting mechanisms, identifying new opportunities to add to the CORE UNICEF system, and ensuring that each office maintains a clear plan for further development of the system.
Scope of Work
1. Post-deployment support and maintenance of markets with entire SES Digital Platform

• Ensure that each UNICEF office using the SES platform is using the system as effectively as possible, in a compliant fashion and optimized for fundraising performance.

• Support the making of business decisions from fundraising/supporter experience and satisfaction viewpoints, taking cost and ROI into consideration to make recommendations to business and product owners where appropriate.

• Advise markets on ongoing data analytics workstreams such as rich data metrics and dashboards.

• Ensure offices use the system as it was designed, maintaining data hygiene, data standardization, coding structures, campaign hierarchies, and related business processes at all times.

• Ensure that offices adhere to standards by working closely with them and supporting any business process, or system changes required.

• Ensure that supporter data integrates in the right manner with Marketing Cloud to serve journeys.

• Support the development of supporter journeys through updating them and performing tests in collaboration with each office.

• Collaborate with markets, the Individual Giving Team (IG), wider UNICEF divisions (such as ICTD) and third-party vendors to ensure the best technology (and use thereof) maximizes Individual Giving performance.

• Provide ad-hoc training to users / offices as required.

2. Contribute to improvements on SES Digital Platform

• Identify and develop areas of business process improvement, or where local processes can be adapted to CORE functionality or propose enhancements to CORE.

• Identify opportunities to update/upgrade systems and platforms and develop the business case for doing so.

• Manage a clear plan for each office in the region for the development of the system and ensure that resources are available for delivery. Ongoing developments are planned and delivered to schedule.

• Track the global developments in fundraising and engagement platforms across the sector, and beyond, maintaining relationships with key contacts in the technology industry.

• Support the continual development of analytical models, including the introduction of AI technologies.

3. Delivery of support plan for stabilization of SES Digital Platform in
EAP: Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines
ECA: Croatia, Bulgaria, Greece Romania, Serbia and the virtual HUB
LAC: Colombia, Chile, Uruguay and five additional Country Offices
4. Knowledge sharing between local markets and knowledge handover (technical manuals, and documentation on best practices and troubleshooting for maintenance / bug fixes / further improvements to the local platform).

Education:

• An advanced university degree in Business, Business Administration, Technology, Software, Marketing, or another relevant technical field is required.

• Alternatively, a first-level university degree, in combination with additional two (2) years of experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Experience:

• A minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in the following fields: business analysis, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) implementations, IT system support / centre of excellence participation and / or ongoing system improvement such as training, testing, and identifying new requirements from a user base with a view to increasing performance is required.

• Experience in Salesforce Sales Cloud is required.

• Extensive experience using various testing methodologies to improve performance and achieve marketing objectives is required.

• Experience in developing business requirements documents (user stories) and representing / articulating complex business requirements to technical teams is required.

The experience below will be considered an asset:

• Experience with United Nations and most particularly with UNICEF.

• Experience in Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

• Experience in fundraising, especially individual giving communication, retention and supporter journeys.

• Experience with leading training sessions and live demos.

• Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.

Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external partners.

• Ability to manage multiple projects under time pressure with strict attention to detail.

• Excellent communication skills, (both written and oral) to translate complicated business requirements into technical based language, and vice versa.

Remarks:
Please indicate your all-inclusive (lump sum) fees against the deliverables listed above in the cover letter, If there is a need for business travel, the travel costs will be covered by UNICEF separately. The office selects the individual based on best value for money.
Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Background
The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) is an autonomous institution within the United Nations (UN) that conducts independent research on disarmament and related problems, particularly international security issues. The vision of UNIDIR is a stable and more secure world in which States and people are protected from threats of arms-related violence. The role of UNIDIR is to support Member States, the UN and policy and research communities in advancing ideas and actions that contribute to a more sustainable and peaceful world. UNIDIR is based in the Palais des Nations, Geneva.
UNIDIR’s Gender and Disarmament Programme is looking for an intern to assist with research and support with implementation of programme activities. The overall objectives of the programme are to generate policy-relevant knowledge and to provide multilateral practitioners with practical tools in order to apply a gender perspective to the substance of their work.
Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the Graduate Professional or their sponsoring institutions.
Responsibilities
Within UNIDIR’s Gender and Disarmament Programme, the Graduate Professional shall perform the following duties under the supervision of the Head of Programme:

• Background research

• Assisting in the planning and implementation of programme activities (e.g. meetings, workshops, conferences, field missions)

• Contributing to day-to-day tasks, including communication, coordination and administrative matters

• Performing other tasks, as required by programme staff

Key skills/interests

• Research and presentation

• Ability to synthesize information into concise, high-quality written briefs

• Organization and coordination of multiple tasks

• Interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills (written and oral)

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and InDesign

• Should have an interest in international peace and security, disarmament, gender issues and the work of the UN.

Qualifications and experience
Education
To qualify for the UNIDIR Graduate and Professional Programme (GPP), applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

• Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or

• Have graduated with a university degree (second university degree, as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the GPP within a one-year period of graduation.

At UNIDIR, preference will be given to applicants with post-graduate degree qualifications relevant to space security-related issues, for instance in the fields of international relations, political science, international law or international security.
Work experience

• Applicants are not required to have professional work experience, however demonstrated experience or interest in conventional arms control will be considered an asset

• Shall be computer literate in standard software applications, including Microsoft Office and graphic design tools (e.g. InDesign)

• Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the UN and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter

• Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views

Languages

• For the position advertised, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required

• Knowledge of at least one other official UN language is desirable
