Your responsibilities
PRODUCTION and QA Engineer for XTAX COMPONENTS
In close collaboration with experts at CERN, you will:

• Develop and optimise production processes to ensure efficiency and product quality.

• Implement and maintain quality assurance procedures and conduct inspections to ensure compliance with standards.

• Investigate and resolve quality issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions.

• Document and report on production and quality metrics, maintaining thorough records.

• Collaborate with suppliers and support production teams to uphold material and process quality.

Your profile
Skills:

• Strong understanding of engineering principles, production technologies, and relevant tools such as CAD software and process control systems.

• Advanced knowledge of ISO-GPS and Quality manufacturing standards.

• Proven experience in manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality.

• Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and technical operators to implement improvements and resolve issues.

• Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.

• You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State .

• You have a professional background in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) and have either:
• a Master’s degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;

• or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.

• You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.

Job Description

Introduction
Are you an enthusiastic Electromechanical Technical Engineer interested in the development, manufacturing and operation of superconducting accelerator magnets? Join a dedicated team pushing the limits of superconducting accelerator magnets, to shape the future of the largest accelerator in the world, take part!
The Magnets, Superconductors and Cryostats (MSC) group in CERN’s Technology Department (TE), has the mandate to design, construct, and measure the superconducting and normal conducting magnets for the CERN accelerator complex. This includes magnet integration, cryostat design, quality control, and operational support across the accelerator chain.
Within MSC, the Large Magnet Facility Section (LMF) leads the construction, maintenance and support of the accelerator’s superconducting magnets. It also produces, and maintains busbars, electrical connections, and interconnections. Current work includes the construction of coils, magnets and cold masses for the HL-LHC project, as well as preparations for the upcoming Long Shutdown 3. The team is also involved in the development of future superconducting magnets, for example within the High Field Magnets program and experimental superferric magnets. All activities are carried out in a purpose-built facility on the CERN site.
Functions
As an experienced technical engineer in the Large Magnet Facility (LMF) section, you will develop a strong expertise in the field of accelerator magnet construction by:

• Contributing to the construction of superconducting coils and magnets, in close collaboration with engineers and technicians, including prototyping, with a focus on producing cost-effective, full-length accelerator magnets for system integration;

• Participating in research and development of technologies for superconducting accelerator magnets and associated technologies, including those addressed in the High Field Magnet (HFM) programme;

• Collaborate in the development of superconducting magnets, specifically related to technical aspects and fabrication, including development of tooling and follow up of purchase orders in the industry for parts or equipment;

• Coordinate the technical work of technicians and organising the work schedule as a function of the general planning;

• Develop tools and solutions for new projects and their procurement, ensuring compatibility with the repair processes of LHC Nb-Ti magnets within the LMF coil winding facility.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of mechanical engineering, electromechanical engineering or a related field. or a related field.

Experience:
We are looking for a technical engineer to manage all life-cycle processes for the construction and operation of superconducting magnets, with the following experience:

• Proven experience in:
• mechanics, manufacturing technologies, and processes.

• Experience in:
• development of first-of-a-kind systems, which require the construction of mock-ups and dedicated tooling;

• implementing manufacturing procedures to ensure high standards of quality assurance and quality control throughout the production life-cycle.

• The following experience would be an asset:
• fabrication and assembly of superconducting accelerator coils, magnets or similar high-precision electromechanical devices;

• technical follow-up of industrial contracts;

• technical supervision of technicians or coordination of a workshop

Technical competencies:

• Construction, test and installation of superconducting magnets and systems: knowledge in winding, curing, reaction, and impregnation of coils is an asset.

• Assembly of mechanical structures and equipment: experience in the production and assembly of electromagnets, or similar equipment of high complexity.

• Operation and maintenance of electromechanical equipment and systems: knowledge of operation safety in a workshop environment.

• Organisation, planning and control: with experience in managing and optimising workshop resources.

Job description
Dans le cadre d’un projet de transformation digitale, nous recherchons un expert polyvalent Creo /PTC Windchill.Vous interviendrez en tant que référent technique, formateur et support métier auprès des équipes, en lien direct avec les utilisateurs finaux, les équipes informatiques et les éditeurs de solutions.

Activités principales :

• Analyse et optimisation des processus métiers :
Recueillir et analyser les besoins des utilisateurs, cartographier les processus existants liés à la gestion des données produit (PLM) et à la conception (CAO/FAO), proposer des axes d’amélioration.

• Administration et support des systèmes CAO/PLM :
Assurer la gestion quotidienne des outils (PTC Windchill, Creo), diagnostiquer et résoudre les incidents techniques, gérer les tickets et assurer le suivi des demandes auprès des éditeurs.

• Tests et validation des évolutions logicielles :
Tester les nouvelles versions des logiciels, valider leur adéquation avec les besoins métiers, rédiger les cahiers des charges pour les évolutions ou customisations nécessaires.

• Formation et accompagnement des utilisateurs :
Concevoir et animer des sessions de formation sur les outils CAO/PLM, adapter les supports pédagogiques, vulgariser les concepts techniques, accompagner la montée en compétences des équipes.

• Documentation et communication :

Profil recherché

Experimental Physicist
You will be part of the Experimental Physics (EP) Department, which carries out basic research. This Department aims at providing a stimulating scientific atmosphere and remains an important reference centre for the European physics community.
Functions
The selected candidate will play an important role in one or more projects of particle physics experiments at CERN, involving the conception and design of experiments, the development and operation of detectors and the analysis of data.
Qualifications
PhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of PhD in the field of physics, or equivalent or a related field.
Experience:

We are seeking a Trainee (PWM Fund and Manager Research) to explore the evolving landscape of ETFs, with a focus on the risk profiles of active and passive ETFs across different markets. Your role will involve investigating how these products manage market-specific risks such as political instability, currency fluctuations and liquidity constraints. You will develop an innovative quantitative algorithm to screen investment universes, pinpointing critical risk factors that influence ETF performance.
Collaborating with experienced long-only fund analysts, you will analyse historical data to identify patterns and propose strategies for risk management tailored to diverse market conditions. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain predictive insights into manager performance across various investment contexts and time horizons, contributing meaningfully to the advancement of investment strategies.

Your role

• Assess the product suitability of the existing ETF scoring model: Evaluate how well our proprietary algorithm scores ETFs for equities and fixed income, given market shifts over the past decade.
• Identify new risk factors for enhanced ETF analysis: Research and identify additional factors that have strong explanatory power for manager performance, particularly in the context of active and synthetic ETFs.
• Integrate new factors into the scoring algorithm: Modify the existing model to incorporate these new risk factors, improving its relevance and accuracy in today’s investment landscape.
• Analyse risks and opportunities in synthetic passive investments: Explore the specific risks and opportunities associated with synthetic passive ETFs, integrating findings into the updated scoring model to better inform investment strategies.

Your profile

• Master’s student in Finance/Economics, Statistics or Data Science
• A keen interest in financial markets, empirical finance, data analytics and data visualisation
• Proficient in standard IT tools (MS Office, Tableau, SQL, VBA; R, Python is a plus)
• Strong communication skills, ability to work autonomously while being a team player

Your responsibilities
Join the Electronic Systems for Experiments (ESE) group at CERN to contribute to the development of advanced electronics for next-generation particle physics experiments. As part of an international R&D programme in collaboration with high-tech industry, you will work on innovative 3D interconnects and packaging solutions for tracking detector systems.
Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluation of prototype ASICs with Through-Silicon Vias (TSVs): test pixel readout ASICs fabricated in advanced CMOS (65 nm and 28 nm) incorporating TSVs; design and oversee the production of test boards, and carry out comprehensive verification using CERN’s facilities.

• Design of advanced substrates: develop lightweight substrates integrating TSV-processed and wire-bonded ASICs with opto-electronic and power devices; use modern EDA tools to simulate signal integrity, power distribution, and thermal behaviour.

• Assembly and testing of modules: manage fabrication and assembly of prototype detector modules; develop FPGA-based test systems and associated firmware and software; collaborate closely with physicists and engineers to evaluate performance.

• Skill development and knowledge sharing: develop hardware, firmware, and software design skills using state-of-the-art tools; gain practical laboratory testing experience as part of an international, multi-disciplinary team; present your work at international conferences and expand your professional network within a large-scale R&D programme.

Your profile
Skills:

• Experience of printed-circuit board design (schematic and layout).

• Knowledge of interconnect techniques for integrated circuits.

• Experience of using laboratory measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, network analyser etc).

• Experience of designing and/or testing particle-detector modules.

• Basic knowledge of HDL for FPGAs.

• Basic programming skills (eg python).

• Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.
