The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.Job DescriptionIntroductionJoin the Geodetic Metrology group at CERN, where you will push the limits of accelerator alignment to shape the future of CERN accelerators! Participate in the development, qualification and installation of new high precision alignment methods with sensors, based on advanced technologies and novel adjustment solutions!FunctionsAs a Mechatronics Technician, you will be integrated in the multi-disciplinary team of the High Precision Alignment technologies section, being part of the development, installation and commissioning of all alignment solutions requiring micrometric accuracy in harsh environment. The section is more particularly engaged in the development and implementation of solutions based on advanced technologies as interferometric and capacitive position measurements systems.You will:Be in charge of the procurement, preparation, assembly, qualification, installation and commissioning of alignment solutions mechatronics (including mechanical, electrical and optoelectronics sub-components);Participate in the design, study and preparation of specific alignment solutions, and of control test benches to qualify them;Contribute to mechanical and electronics activities executed in the accelerators complex, laboratories and workshops.QualificationsHigher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Mechatronics (or related fields) or a related field.Experience:Demonstrated experience in:Mechatronics systems design, assembly and testing;The integration and testing of sensors and motor assemblies;The installation and maintenance of electro-mechanical systems.Initial experience in quality assurance and the preparation of technical documentation (e.g. procedures).An experience related to opto-electronics or electronics systems would be an asset.Technical competencies:Construction, test and installation of electromechanical equipment and systems;Design and manufacturing of cables, including connectors;Assembly of electronic crates, racks and cabinets;Production of 2D drawings and 3D models;Knowledge and application of instrumentation and measurement techniques.Behavioural competencies:Working in teams: working well in groups and readily fitting into a team; participating fully and taking an active role in team activities; seeking to help other team members when own work is done; supporting others; contributing to promoting a positive atmosphere in the team through an optimistic and constructive attitude; addressing issues.Demonstrating flexibility: demonstrating a willingness to accept changing circumstances; supporting initiatives for change; adapting quickly and resourcefully to shifting priorities and requirements; being willing to work on different projects simultaneously.Demonstrating accountability: working conscientiously and reliably; delivering on promises; presenting information accurately and objectively; using openness and honesty to interact constructively with others.Achieving results: being rigorous and producing quality results at first attempt; delivering high quality work on time and fulfilling expectations.Working in the Interest of the organization: demonstrating motivation for own work, being enthusiastic, involved and energetic in pursuing tasks; following rules and regulations and encouraging others to do the same; giving personal best in all activities.Language skills:Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the other language.Additional InformationEligibility and closing date:Diversity has been an integral part of CERN’s mission since its foundation and is an established value of the Organization.
