Ce rôle offre une ambiance collaborative et des opportunités de développement professionnel.TâchesDiriger l’opération du Central Animal Facility et son personnel.Fournir des soins vétérinaires cliniques et chirurgicaux aux animaux.Superviser le programme d’hygiène et de surveillance des animaux.CompétencesDoctorat en médecine vétérinaire avec spécialisation en médecine animale de laboratoire.Expérience pratique en élevage de modèles génétiquement modifiés.Compétences avérées en gestion et leadership dans des structures complexes.The Central Animal Facility is the largest facility of the Experimental Animal Center (EAC), University of Bern (Switzerland).The main function is to breed and house small rodents and rabbits and to provide the infrastructure for conducting animal experiments as part of the biomedical research program of the University of Bern. The 3Rs (Reduce, Refine, Replace), the “Culture of Care” and compliance with guidelines and regulations are cornerstones of the EAC strategy.100% position, 2 years contract (renewable)Areas of responsibilityDirect the operation of the Central Animal Facility (processes, finances and personnel)Provide veterinary clinical, surgical and medical care to the animal populationSupervise the hygiene and monitoring programManage the animal stock with the database systemPlan and participate to the emergency, weekend, and holiday careWrite, update and implement SOPsAdvice the researchers regarding genetically modified mouse breeding and research proceduresEnsure the compliance with the regulations of the Animal Welfare Act, University’s directives and process specificationsParticipate to building renovation projectsSupport the ECLAM residency program and internal educationRequirementsYou have a doctorate in veterinary medicine and a specialisation in laboratory animal medicine (ECLAM/ACLAM diploma or board eligibility).You have practical experience in breeding of genetically modified models. Experience with fish or zebrafish is a plus.You bring proven management experience and leadership in complex structures.You are team- and goal-oriented and have excellent communication skills.You speak English.
