We are seeking a Head of Business Engagement, Middle East & North Africa (MENA) to lead our engagement with the region’s foremost companies and drive the Forum’s business strategy across this critical geography.

This leadership role is responsible for both new partner development and existing partner retention, managing a high-performing team and ensuring delivery of key performance objectives. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of the region’s industrial and macro-economic landscape, as well as the ability to stay ahead of transformative global trends such as artificial intelligence, the energy transition, and shifting trade dynamics – and to interpret their implications for business in the region.

The Head of Business Engagement will work across the Forum’s internal ecosystem to help deliver a compelling, multistakeholder value proposition and will report to the Head of Global Partner Development and Regional Business Strategy.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the Forum’s business strategy for the MENA region, designing and executing a growth plan aligned with Forum priorities.
• Manage a regional business team and resources, ensuring delivery against KPIs, including partner acquisition and renewal.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with CEOs and senior executives from the MENA region, helping them capture value from the Forum’s platforms and communities.
• Drive business development across industries, visiting prospects and converting high-quality leads into Forum partners.
• Ensure retention of existing partners, coordinating with Partner Services and sector-focused teams to maximize engagement outcomes.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Heads of Industry and Heads of Centres to ensure that most relevant and senior colleagues are leveraged and deployed for both partner development and retention.
• Shape a compelling narrative on the region’s future, in collaboration with internal stakeholders including the Centre for Regions, Trade and Geopolitics.
• Oversee strategic planning and portfolio performance monitoring, ensuring business discipline and effective internal coordination.

Qualifications & Skills
• Advanced degree and 10+ years’ experience in business or strategic engagement roles focused on the Middle East and North Africa.
• Demonstrated success in building trust-based relationships with senior executives (CEO and Chair level) and translating strategic business priorities into customized engagement plans.
• Strong track record in business development, with a consultative approach and ability to convert high-potential opportunities.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management experience, with a collaborative, results-driven style.
• Excellent cross-sector and cross-cultural communication and influencing skills; fluency in English required, Arabic a plus.
• Strong strategic, operational and financial acumen, including budget oversight and performance management.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, international environment; willing and able to travel up to 50%.

Welcome to the Research Fellowship : Experimental Physics.
The Research Fellowship Programme is aimed at PhD holders in the fields of experimental physics which have up to 6 years’ experience after obtaining their PhD degree. Research Fellowships are intended for PhD graduates looking to work in a research group.

• You have or are about to obtain, a PhD in particle physics or in a closely related discipline aligned with the physics programme of CERN’s experimental facilities. If you have not obtained your PhD yet the defense date should be already scheduled, and your PhD completed within 6 months after the deadline of the publication of this position. In any event, you should have finished your PhD studies by the time you take up your appointment at CERN.
• You have no more than 6 years’ research experience after completion of your PhD degree at the deadline of the publication of this position.
• Please note that CERN Staff members are not eligible to apply for a Fellowship.

Additional Information

CERN would very much like to benefit from your expertise, commitment and passion. In return, CERN will provide you with:
• An employment contract for typically 24 months. A small number of outstanding candidates will be offered a 36 month fellowship.
• A stipend ranging from 6,911 to 7,326 Swiss francs per month (net of tax).

Your role

• Etre l’interlocuteur/trice de référence pour toutes les demandes de nature opérationnelle émanant des gérants et des clients.

• Traiter les opérations de paiement et de transfert, en veillant à ce que les appels de vérification (call-back) soient effectués de manière systématique, et fournir un soutien pour les autres types de transactions, selon les besoins

• Traiter les demandes (codifications clients internes, cartes de crédit, limites de crédit, conditions spéciales, etc.) saisies dans les workflows correspondants et veiller à ce que les documents importants (mémos, ordres, instructions, etc.) soient bien enregistrés dans les systèmes concernés.

• Faciliter chacune des étapes du processus d’ouverture de compte en faisant attention aux prescriptions réglementaires locales et à leur incidence sur les exigences documentaires.

• Assurer un suivi rigoureux de la documentation (suspens, documents demandés par le Middle Office, listes de points à traiter émises par le département Risk & Compliance) et, dans ce cadre, contacter les clients internes.

• Gérer le flux documentaire (archivage, traitement des formulaires physiques et électroniques).

• Bachelor ou diplôme équivalent.

• Très bonne connaissance des dispositifs et prescriptions réglementaires (activités transfrontalières, gestion des risques et compliance, personnes politiquement exposées/PEP, relations à risques accrus, FATCA, Norme commune de déclaration de l’OCDE, etc.).

• Grande aisance à communiquer, aussi bien à l’oral qu’à l’écrit, et maîtrise des techniques de présentation.

Job Description

Your responsibilities
The Mechanical and Materials Engineering ( EN-MME ) group, within the Engineering Department ( EN ), is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to the design, calculations and production of a superconducting, 400 MHz Radio Frequency (RF) accelerating cavity inside a helium tank, with a mechanical tuner. Four such cavities will be integrated inside a cryo-module. This subject is part of an R&D study in preparation of the possible future FCC-ee collider project.
You will play a significant role in the general design choices for the integration of the Nb deposited, copper cavity inside a helium tank and the mechanical tuner that is used to change the fundamental frequency of the cavity. You will use ANSYS and COMSOL to model and compare different design choices and to perform different mechanical studies such as pressure vessel assessment, thermal-, modal-, transport-, buckling, fatigue- and precision mechanisms analysis for the above-mentioned R&D project.
You will collaborate with engineers, designers and technicians in different specialisation fields such as mechanical production, RF and cryogenics and you will give support for the procurement, quality control, assembly and testing of the prototypes. You will produce and present technical reports.
Your profile
Skills:
• Design and analysis of mechanical structures by finite-element and analytical methods;
• Knowledge of 3D design software, in particular CATIA, would be an advantage;
• Knowledge of design codes and compliance verification of mechanical equipment, including steel structures, pressure vessels and machinery;
• Knowledge of high precision assemblies and actuation mechanisms;
• Knowledge of cryogenics and vacuum would be an advantage;
• Technical reporting;
• Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.

Eligibility criteria:
• You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State .
• You have a professional background in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) and have either: • a Master’s degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
• or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.

• You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.

Job Description

Introduction
The Engineering Department (EN) pushes back the limits of technology so that physicists can carry out their research. Within the Electrical Engineering ( EL ) group of the EN department, you will join the Maintenance and Operation (MO) section, which is in charge for the maintenance and operation of CERN’s electrical transmission and distribution network.
Are you a qualified and proactive Asset Management expert, specialised in the use of CMMS systems for electrical networks or industrial complexes and with solid knowledge of inventory management?
Then your skills will contribute to the operation, maintenance, consolidation, and extension of the complex electrical transmission and distribution network of CERN, dedicated to a unique laboratory hosting some of the world’s most complex technical installations. Functions
As an Electrical Technical Engineer in the Maintenance and Operation section of the EN-EL group, you will play a key role in establishing and maintaining the representation of the electrical network asset base and associated inventory within CERN’s Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
You will be responsible for defining and implementing asset hierarchies, failure codes, and maintenance workflows, ensuring high-quality data and operational usability for other members of the EN-EL group. Your responsibilities will cover both installed equipment across CERN’s electrical infrastructure and spare parts stored in the warehouses.
Key responsibilities:
• Conduct a thorough inventory and classification of all assets composing the electrical network.
• Define a hierarchical structure and data model for representing assets in the CMMS.
• Coordinate site surveys to collect asset information and process the data using AI-based tools where applicable.
• Input and configure all asset data in the CMMS, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and traceability.
• Monitor data quality in the CMMS through regular audits, validation routines, and continuous improvement activities.
• Identify data gaps and collaborate with field teams and technical experts to resolve them.
• Configure and manage failure codes to support fault analysis and optimisation of maintenance processes.
• Assist maintenance managers in defining and assigning preventive maintenance tasks, scheduling frequencies, and associating necessary resources (e.g. labour, tools, spare parts).
• Support users (technicians and engineers) by providing training, user documentation, and technical assistance related to asset and maintenance data.
• Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation on all CMMS asset configurations, hierarchies, and related structures.
• Assist in the creation of dashboards and reports related to asset status, maintenance history, and KPIs (e.g., MTBF).
• Define the organisation and tracking of spare parts in the warehouse, ensuring correct, identification, classification, and linkage to the corresponding assets in the CMMS.
• You will also support the Group on operational activities when needed, for example in attending periodic tests on the network.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
To fill this position, we are looking for someone with experience:
• In the implementation, configuration, or administration of a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), with particular emphasis on asset structuring and maintenance data modelling;
• Working in electrical infrastructure environments, with familiarity in handling assets such as transformers, HV/MV/LV switchgear, etc;
• In data collection and on-site surveys, ideally carried out in close collaboration with engineering and maintenance teams;
• In spare parts management and warehouse organisation, including the accurate representation of stock items and their associations within a CMMS;
• Using or applying AI-based tools or techniques to assist in data processing, classification, or extraction from field-collected or unstructured sources is considered an asset.

• You remain registered as a full-time student during the internship.

• You have a good knowledge of English or French.

Additional Information

CERN would very much like to benefit from your expertise, commitment and passion. In return, CERN will provide you with:
• A contract of association from 4 to 12 months.

• An allowance of 3472 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax).

• A travel allowance.

• Depending on your personal circumstances, a supplement if you are married and/or have children.

• Coverage by CERN’s comprehensive Health Insurance scheme (the contribution will be automatically deducted from your allowance).

• 2,5 days of paid leave per month.

Job Description:
The Refineries Risk Officer role is a member of the Risk team, delivering pnl and position analysis to Management and Front Office. The Refineries Risk Officer works closely with fellow Distillates officers and provides backup for their activities and vice-versa. The role reports to the Risk Manager.

Main Responsibilities
• Produce and validate daily P&L and exposure reports for refinery-related trading activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Monitor refinery cracks, margins, and hedging strategies, ensuring proper alignment between physical and paper positions.

• Reconcile trading positions, both physical and derivatives, across systems and with front office to ensure integrity of risk metrics.

• Provide refinery-specific performance analysis to management, including gross margin analysis and benchmark comparisons.

• Monitor daily risk metrics (e.g., VaR, Greeks, position limits), identify anomalies, and escalate deviations promptly.

• Ensure accurate and timely trade capture in ETRM systems and coordinate resolution of discrepancies with the trading and operations teams.

• Monitor and support the creation and maintenance of MtM price curves, ensuring they reflect market reality and are consistent with trading strategies, refining economics, and valuation principles across physical and paper positions.

• Track inventory levels, logistics movements, and related costs to ensure accurate representation of positions and P&L.

• Liaise with traders and refinery managers to explain P&L drivers, market moves, and structural changes in positions.

• Support month-end closing processes, working with accounting to reconcile results and book provisions.

• Coordinate with back office and accounting on settlement, invoicing, and correct financial reporting of trades and associated costs.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of reporting tools and controls, including automation of recurring processes and enhancement of dashboards.

• Provide backup coverage for adjacent desks (e.g., Gasoil).

Profile
• University degree, preferably in Computing, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics or Finance

• Minimum 4 year in a similar role in the commodity trading business, preferably within a major trading house, an oil major, investment bank or hedge fund

• Curious and proactive, rigorous and meticulous

• Demonstrated Business Analysis skills

• Comprehensive understanding of risk management methodologies and valuation models

• High knowledge of analytics tools and technologies.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Python

The SY-EPC-CCS Section within the Electrical Power Converters (SY-EPC) Group is responsible for the development and operation of software used to control power converters that drive current in the magnets of CERN’s accelerators. In total, the group is responsible for more than 5000 power converters.
As part of the Tools Team at SY-EPC-CCS, you’ll become responsible for a set of crucial expert web tools.
As part of your responsibilities, you will be:
• Working on front-ends in JavaScript (Vue3.js);
• Working on back-ends in Python (FastAPI);
• Working on databases in SQL (PostgreSQL);
• Contributing to the team’s containerisation setup / workflow (Docker, Compose, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Helm);
• Gathering and iterating over requirements and features with our users and stakeholders (Power Converter Experts);
• Providing support to the experts (users);
• Collaborating closely in a team of developers who are working on the full stack of the tools suite, using the Scrum framework;
• This role includes team supervision responsibilities.
