We implement applications and systems built using a selected set of National Instruments and Alliance Members’ products. We provide CERN-wide LabVIEW support and we support a framework forRapid Application Development (RADE)based on LabVIEW.Within the BE-CEM group, there are several critical test benches for the LHC Collimators and Beam intersecting devices that needs to be maintained and upgraded towards the HiLumi installations. In addition the team is working on critical test and validation systems for future projects such as SamBuCa and DI/OT.As a Junior Software Engineer in the team, you will:Upgrade and maintain validation testbenches and hardware.Design and extend test hardware platform and environment.Design individual test steps for various boards.Design test-bench hardware.Integrate results into a database.Document and support the platform and tests.Your profileSkillsGood Knowledge of LabVIEW, LabVIEW RT and FPGA.Good knowledge of Python, knowledge of pytest a bonus.Comfortable with linux and its command-line interface.Ability to come up with well-engineered solutions.Able to communicate and understand the requirements from clients.Document progress, development, implementation and challenges.Seek help from and work with the team.Work autonomously when needed.Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.Eligibility criteria:You are a national of aCERN Member or Associate Member State.By the application deadline,you have amaximum of two years of professional experience since graduationin Software Engineer (or a related field)andyour highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.Applicants without University degree are not eligible.Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.Additional InformationJob closing date:16.07.2025at23:59 CEST.Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.Working hours: 40 hours per weekTarget start date: 01-September-2025Job reference: BE-CEM-MTA-2025-89-GRAEField of work: Software Engineering and ITWhat we offerA monthly stipend ranging between5196and 5716Swiss Francs (net of tax).Coverage by CERN’s comprehensivehealth scheme(for yourself, your spouse and children), and membership of the CERNPension Fund.Depending on your individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract.30 days of paid leave per year.On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French.About usAt CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe.
