Do you have experience with processing expense claims or compensation and benefits payments? We are looking for a dynamic person with good attention to detail to join our Personnel Accounting Section in the Finance and Administrative Processes Department.FunctionsThe Expense Claims Assistant will ensure the efficient and accurate control and payment of all financial requests relating to members of personnel. This amounts to approximately 25,000 claims a year. You will work in tandem with one other colleague, and will gradually take on the following responsibilities:Control a variety of reimbursement claims; such as travel, subsistence and cost of living allowances, entertainment or sundries, family and social benefits;Prepare the related payment files;Coding and recording of accounting entries;Regular monitoring of specific accounts;Maintaining personnel’s bank details;Answering ad hoc queries from Members of Personnel;Performing diverse administrative duties, such as processing transactions related to conferences organised by CERN, updating exchange rates, issuing ad hoc financial attestations;Maintaining regular contact and good relations with both internal services and external contacts.In the spirit of flexibility within the team, ensure back up of colleagues. In this role, you will contribute your expertise to the team by overseeing the production of collimators and masks within WP5 of the High-Luminosity LHC Project.The role involves supporting critical operational tasks, such as mechanical assemblies, components logistics, on-site assembly area management, execution of assembly and testing procedures related to collimators and masks essential for LS3 (Long Shutdown 3).This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a crucial phase of the HL-LHC Project (WP5). To prosper and grow in this position, you should possess a blend of technical proficiency, project management skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.Responsibilities include:Overseeing and managing the collimators reception tests, quality checks and assembly activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.Providing hands-on support during test campaigns, ensuring a smooth execution and accurate data collection. – Following up with several collimator production activities in industry (in Italy and other Member State countries), including production problems solving. Vitol is unique in the energy trading world in making our CTRM the core of our business processes that everyone at Vitol works with, often on a daily basis.As a member of the CTRM team, located in Geneva, Switzerland, you will:Actively contribute to the development of our core system by developing new features based on user requirements to meet our evolving business needsWork closely with a wide range of users to identify & prioritize requirements and design technical solutionsMaintain & further improve system modules, including the ones you will help build but also existing onesProvide business applications support and training to users on day to day issuesAs we are working as one united team that covers all the functions of our CTRM, the projects you will be involved in may be as diverse as:Modelling cash-for-product loan repayments in our Finance P&LBuilding a valuation engine for non-linear complex options that we tradeRunning a systems integration with a company we’ve acquiredOur core technologies, including PL/SQL and Oracle Forms Builder, are still an important part of what we do, and they have enabled the Vitol success story. When you join, you will work with our established technologies to get familiar with the data model and business logic, and quickly start adding value to our business. For those interested, we will also create opportunities further down the line to be part of this important technology migration.QualificationsUniversity degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent fieldProven data modelling skills to translate business situations into data structures, proficiency in SQLAt least 3 years’ experience in similar position(s), e.g. as a user-facing DB engineerEntrepreneurial drive, ability to work independently as well as in a teamProactive and user-focused “make it work” mentality with a genuine interest in the functional as well as technical aspects of each challenge encountered; comfortable with daily release cycle modelExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsFull proficiency communicating in English in a business context (verbally & in writing)Qualifications and skills that will help you stand outExperience with PL/SQL (preferred) or a similar procedural DB programming language (e.g. T-SQL)Previous experience in the commodities and/or trading industryPractical experience with Oracle Forms builderExperience with programming in C#, C++ or PythonFrench language skills a plus (but not required)Office based role (1 day per week home office)Additional InformationOur Geneva officeOur office is located very centrally, 5 minutes from the main train station and 1 minute from the lake. The office has a rooftop lunch area, with views over the lake and Alps.
